Jason (TingKwan) Lau
Saxophonist, arranger
TingKwan (Jason) Lau is an emerging Toronto-based saxophonist specializing in Classical and
Contemporary music. An active performer and educator, Jason is fluent in the repertoire of the
saxophone and is as comfortable a soloist as he is a chamber musician.
An active competitor, Jason won the 2018 University of Toronto Faculty of Music Winds Competition. A strong interest in exploring the virtuosic capabilities of the saxophone drives Jason to explore music beyond that of his instrument.
Jason has recently finished his Master of Instruments Specialize in Saxophone at the Lemmensinstituut under the guidance of Prof. Mariano Garcia and Nadine Bal. A David and Marcia Beach Summer Study Award, along with a Faculty of Music Undergraduate Associaton
individual grants gave Jason the opportunity to participate in the Université Européenne de Saxophone in Gap, France in the summer of 2017-19. There, he received advanced instruction from virtuosos Claude Delangle, Arno Bornkamp, Vincent David and among others.
